French novelist Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio has won the 2008 Nobel Prize for literature.
The 68-year-old made his breakthrough as a novelist with "Desert". The Nobel Foundation hailed him as an "author of new departures, poetic adventure and sensual ecstasy''.
