At least one person has been killed in a blast near the Sri Lankan capital Colombo that police say may have been a suicide attack on a government minister.
A military spokesman said three other people were injured in the explosion which occured near a Buddhist temple. Police said the blast targetted a convoy escorting Agriculture Minister Maithripala Sirisena. However, the minister was not hurt in the incident. In the past, the government has blamed such attacks on Tamil Tiger rebels who have been fighting for a separate state for minority Tamils for over 25 years.
