Livni said she was determined to press ahead with the Annapolis peace talks, referring to a US-sponsored peace conference last November that restarted negotiations on a Palestinian state. She also said political changes could not be allowed to stand in the way as doing nothing would weaken moderate leaders in the region. Livni who will take over from the current Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, ousted because of a corruption scandal, is trying to form a new coalition government stable enough to deal with external challenges.
