Search teams are combing a remote eastern area of the US state of California after a hiker found items, including a pilot's license, belonging to missing millionaire adventurer Steve Fossett. The 63-year-old Fossett disappeared just over a year ago after setting off from Nevada for what friends said was a casual pleasure flight in a single-engined plane.
No wreckage has yet been found. Fossett was declared legally dead in February after investigators concluded that his plane was destroyed in a fatal accident. Fossett held several aviation and sailing records, in 2002 becoming the first person to fly a balloon solo around the world.
