Olympics set to open in Beijing ... to cover up the extent of the problem.
The official People's Daily newspaper said the Sanlu Group approached the Shijiazhuang city government to help manage the media response to the case. This happened on August 2, six days before the Beijing Olympics opened. The scare was first made public one month later. Thousands of infants have fallen ill from tainted milk products which also are blamed for the deaths of four babies.
