The five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany have cancelled a meeting to discuss their efforts to curb Iran's nuclear programme.
The top diplomats from the six countries had planned to meet on the fringes of the UN General Assembly in New York on Thursday. But the talks were called off after the Russian foreign ministry issued a statement saying that Moscow didn't consider it urgent enough. This comes amid heightened tensions between Moscow and the West since last month's five-day long war between Russia and Georgia.
