Romania's President Traian Basescu has dismissed Labour Minister Paul Pacuraru over corruption charges.
The president's decree comes after anti-corruption prosecutors started an investigation over allegations that Pacuraru took bribes while in office. The minister has denied the charges. The European Commission has repeatedly demanded more effective anti-corruption measures in Romania, which became an EU member in 2007.
