A little-known Islamist group has claimed responsibility for Saturday's bomb attack on the Marriott hotel in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad.
Al Arabiya television reported the claim by "Fedayeen of Islam", but the United States has attributed the attack to al-Qaeda. Pakistan's Interior Ministry said the country's president, prime minister and military chiefs were supposed to dine at the hotel at the time the bomb went off but that plans were changed at the last minute. Other government sources have denied this. A massive truck bomb devastated the hotel, killing at least 53 people and wounding around 270. The Czech ambassador to Pakistan was among the dead. His body was flown home on Monday.
