The chairman of German air carrier Lufthansa has called on the pilots' union, Cockpit, to return to the negotiating table to try to end a strike that has forced dozens of flights to be cancelled over the past 24 hours.
Speaking in a newspaper interview, Wolfgang Mayrhuber said pilots with Lufthansa regional subsidiary CityLine already earned as much as 25 percent more than pilots with other regional air carriers.
