In the petition addressed to Chinese President Hu Jintao, the athletes demand that China enable a peaceful solution to the Tibetan question and other conflicts in the country in harmony with the fundamental human rights principles. They ask the Chinese president to see to the protection of freedom of speech, conviction and opinions in China and secure that Chinese humans right advocates were not intimidated and imprisoned. The signatories also demand that executions cease in China.
