Authorities in the United States say an army scientist who killed himself last week was the only person responsible for a series of anthrax letter-attacks in 2001.
At a press conference, investigators said they would conclude their investigation now that their only suspect, Bruce Ivins, was dead. Earlier, a federal court released documents outlining the state's case against Ivins. The documents said he had a large flask of highly purified anthrax spores, which were found to match those used in the letters, which killed five people and sickened 17 others. Defence lawyers for Ivins have said that their client was innocent and that his innocence would have been established at trial.
