Ahead of a major international conference on AIDS thousands of activists have marched through Mexico City to protest discrimination often experienced by victims of the HIV virus.
From this Sunday, 22,000 scientists, policymakers and grassroots workers are expected to attend the six-day conference in the Mexican capital. It's to be opened by UN chief Ban Ki-moon. Also expected is former US president Bill Clinton. World-wide, 33 million people have the immunodeficiency disease. In sub-Saharan Africa AIDS is to commonest cause of death, with millions lacking access to adequate medical care. Globally, two million people died of AIDS each year while those newly infected amount to two and half million. In the United States, authorities say Mexico remains 'are US soldiers' ...
