Lufthansa said in a statement that it was introducing a new flight schedule to minimise disruption for passengers. About 5,000 members of the Verdi trade union started an open-ended strike on Monday. Verdi is demanding 9.8 per cent more pay for 50,000 ground and cabin staff. Lufthansa, Europe's second biggest airline, has offered 6.7 percent.
