A series of suicide bomb attacks in Iraq has killed around 30 people.
In Baghdad, three bombings in quick succession killed at least 20 people and wounded more than 40. According to police, initial reports said all three explosions were caused by female suicide bombers. The attacks targeted Shi'ite pilgrims who are flooding into the Iraqi capital for a major religious event. Later, in the northern city of Kirkuk at least 11 were killed and 50 others were wounded when a suicide bomber detonated an explosives belt amid people protesting against a draft provincial elections law that is being debated in parliament.
