Iran has hanged 29 prisoners convicted of murder, rape, drug trafficking and other crimes.
Iran's judiciary confirmed the mass execution took place at Evin prison in northern Tehran. The executions bring to over 100 the number of people executed in Iran this year. Amnesty International says Iran was second only to China in the number of people it executed in 2007, applying the death penalty 314 times.
