The Turkish military says it has carried out air strikes on 12 Kurdish rebel positions in northern Iraq.
In a statement on its website, the military said it bombed targets on Mount Qandil, on Iraq's border with Iran, where the banned Kurdistan Workers Party, or PKK, is believed to be based. Ankara says PKK rebels use Iraqi territory to carry out attacks on Turkish soil.
