Pro-EU Forces Win in Serbia ... with other European politicians, praised the step as a fundamental change in Serbia's European perspectives. "A criminal is finally where he belongs, he is arrested... I think this is considerably pushing the Serbian perspectives towards the European Union," said Vondra who today attended a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels. Karadzic's arrest was today welcomed in by EU representatives in Brussels, including EC President Jose Barroso and EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Javier Solana, and by the heads of state and government of the EU member states. Barroso said Karadzic's arrest confirmed that the new Serbian government was prepared to fully cooperate with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). Karadzic has been wanted by the ICTY on the charges of genocide during the 1992-95 Bosnian war. He has been hiding since 1998.
