Spanish police have arrested eight people in an operation against a unit of the Basque separatist group ETA.

The arrests follow four bomb explosions in two popular northern holiday resorts over the weekend that were claimed by ETA. ETA has been blamed for killing more than 820 people since 1968 in its campaign for an independent Basque state.
