British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has arrived in Baghdad for talks with Iraqi leaders.
The surprise visit comes a day after Washington and Baghdad announced that their leaders had agreed on a "general time horizon" for US troop withdrawals as part of a long-term security pact. Britain has already announced plans to substantially scale back its troop numbers in Iraq next year. There are currently 4,000 British troops in Iraq, mostly based near the southern city of Basra.
