French police have launched an inquiry after 28kg (61lb) of explosives vanished from a security services site, an official told the news agency AFP.
Plastic explosives and detonators were found to have "disappeared" from the site at Corbas, near Lyon.
Police said the discovery was made on Friday but the explosives could have been taken up to a week ago.
Officers from the French anti-terrorist squad are involved in the inquiry, reports say.
