Belgium's King Albert II is asking three veteran politicians to help resolve a deepening political crisis that threatens to split the bi-lingual nation.
The Belgian monarch has given them two weeks to see how politicians from Dutch-speaking Flanders and Francophone Wallonia can begin a dialogue about more regional autonomy. The king rejected Monday's resignation of the government of Prime Minister Yves Leterme. The dispute has left Belgian politics in a deadlock since the June 2007 elections.
