Abkhazia's separatists have rejected a peace plan presented by visiting German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
The three-stage plan is intended to end a simmering conflict between Georgia and its breakaway province Abkhazia. After talks with Steinmeier, separatist leader Sergei Bagapsh told reporters in the town of Gali that the proposals were not acceptable. Main points of the plan include a mutual declaration of non-violence and the repatriation of about 25,000 ethnic Georgians expelled from Abkhazia in the 1990's.
