The firm checked the finances of Cunek, who is also local development minister, senator and Christian Democrat (KDU-CSL) chairman. Cunek was suspected of bribery, but the police definitively halted his prosecution last November. mediated a disadvantageous deal as mayor of Vsetin, north Moravia, nor that he gained his finances in a dubious way. He, however, pointed out that his people did not talk to Czech police and state attorneys during the check of the Cunek finances, and therefore all conclusions about the police work are only very much preliminary. Helsby said it would be good for the Czech Republic to have a system that would allow an independent and trustworthy investigation of political corruption. He said this is complex and that many states the world over have been looking for a solution.
