One of Poland's key anti-communist dissidents has been killed in a car crash.
Bronislaw Geremek died when the car he was riding in collided with an oncoming vehicle in western Poland. Geremek was one of the most important advisers to Lech Walesa, the Solidarity union leader who helped topple communist rule. Geremek served as Polish foreign minister from 1997 to 2000 and in recent years sat in the European Parliament. He was 76.
