Lebanon's rival factions have agreed to form a new 30-member government of national unity.
The agreement designates 16 cabinet seats to the Western-backed parliamentary majority coalition, and 11 seats to the Hezbollah-led opposition. Hezbollah also gets veto powers. The unity government is the outcome of a Qatari-mediated accord, which was negotiated nearly two months ago. That deal ended an 18 month political crisis which escalated into some of the worst street battles in Lebanon since the country's 1975-1990 civil war.
