A court in Equatorial Guinea has sentenced British mercenary Simon Mann to over 34 years in prison for his confessed role in a failed coup plot in 2004.
The verdict followed Mann's four-day trial in Malabo last month in which he admitted his part in the conspiracy to topple President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. Mann also implicated Mark Thatcher, the son of Britain's former prime minister Margaret Thatcher, in the plot.
