The situation is similar to that in 2004, the UIV writes in its report. One-tenth of the school covered by the survey said that they had found a stabbing or cutting arm once over the past three years, while five percent of schools registered three and more cases. At some schools, teachers find knuckledusters and chains among the schoolchildren, the survey found. A verbal attack by a student on a teacher occurs at ten percent of schools at least once in a month. The situation has slightly worsened compared to 2004, the survey found. Physical attacks are quite exceptional.
One physical attack occurred at six percent of schools over the past years, it added. Teachers sometimes face parents' verbal attacks. About 17 percent of schools face the problem several times a year and one-third of schools never meet the problem, the survey found. Three percent of schools have seen physical violence by pupils' parents. The UIV regularly addresses 4000 directors of elementary, secondary, high and vocational schools.
