Egyptian authorities say they have found a cache of weapons and explosives in the Sinai desert destined for the Gaza Strip. Security forces found 400 kilograms of dynamite and nine automatic rifles in a warehouse near the town of El-Arish after a tip-off from bedouins.
Under an Egyptian-mediated ceasefire agreement for Gaza between Israel and Hamas that went into effect last month, Cairo must do its utmost to halt weapons smuggling from the Sinai peninsula into the Palestinian territory.
