A town in Georgia's breakaway region of South Ossetia has come under fire, apparently from the Georgian side of the border, Russian news channels are reporting.
Police in the village of Ubiat said there was gunfire and shots from grenade launchers. The incident is the second in as many days. Tensions soared in South Ossetia on Friday after separatists said two people were killed by intense shelling. Russia has accused Georgia of carrying out "an act of aggression" and warned of a new conflict in the Caucasus region. Georgia accuses Russia of seeking to annex South Ossetia and another breakaway region, Abkhazia, which are both part of Georgia.
