Former Colombian hostage Ingrid Betancourt has been given a clean bill of health after a series of medical tests at a Paris military hospital.
She told French television that she was "very surprised" not to have any physical side-effects from six years of captivity in the Colombian jungle. Betancourt, a French-Colombian dual citizen, and 14 others were freed earlier this week after Colombian army commandos disguised as independent agency staff apparently tricked the hostages' FARC captors into handing them over. The government has denied rumours that a ransom was paid to free the hostages.
