The average way of Slovak teachers is 18,050 Slovak crowns, an equivalent of some 14,440 Czech crowns, while the average wage of Hungarian teachers at primary and secondary schools as well as at universities equals 16,750 Czech crowns. Other university graduates in the Czech Republic earn 30,500 crowns a month on average, which is almost 50 percent more than teachers, Jakus said. Consequently, Czech teachers receive about 70 percent of the pay for people with a similar education.
On the other hand, not all teachers must have university studies completed. In Hungary, teachers earn 55 percent of the university graduates's pay and in Slovakia it is 60 percent.
