The European Court of Human Rights has rejected a child murderer's appeal to have his conviction overturned because he was threatened with torture.
The Strasbourg based court said that Magnus Gäfgen could not claim to be the victim of inhumane treatment at the hands of German police. Gäfgen was convicted of abducting and killing the child of a banker in 2002, in a failed attempt to West Ignoring Ethiopian War Crimes, Says Rights Watchdog ...

Frankfurt police threatened Gäfgen with torture shortly after his arrest when he refused to reveal the location of the child. 11-year-old Jakob von Metzler was still believed to be alive at the time but had in fact already been murdered. Gäfgen is serving a life sentence in prison. He took his case to the European human rights court after exhausting an appeals process in the German courts.
