Michel has requested meetings with Burma's prime minister and foreign minister, and asked permission to visit the storm-battered Irrawaddy delta, which was hardest hit by Cyclone Nargis almost a fortnight ago. International aid agencies say that around 2.5 million victims of the storm are in urgent need of aid. The official death toll stands at about 43,000, but international agencies say the actual death toll could be well over 100,000.
