Stehlikova said it is alarming that young people now get infected with the virus the most often, especially women aged 20-24 and men aged 25-29.
In 2007, 122 new HIV-positive people were registered, which has been the highest number in the Czech Republic since the start of the testing.
According to official data, 137 people have died of AIDS in the 10-million country so far.
