In a televised address Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has praised the Palestinians for 'doing the impossible in keeping the name of Palestine alive'.
His speech was part of the Palestinian 'Nakba' or catastrophe commemorations which refer to the founding of the Israeli state in 1948. More than 700,000 Palestinians fled their homes or were expelled during the war that followed Israel's declaration of independence. Four youths killed in Gaza strike ... Palestinian displacement was also being marked with sirens and rallies in the West Bank. The events come on the second day of US President George W Bush's visit to Israel. Bush is currently in the Knesset where he will follow Israeli Orime Minister Ehud Olmert in addressing the Israeli parliament.
