Hezbollah calls for Beirut rally ... ongoing US assistance. In the meantime Arab League mediators are in Beirut in a bid to broker a solution to Lebanon's political crisis. On Tuesday, Lebanon's army stepped up patrols as part of a drive to restore order after six days of clashes between Hezbollah fighters and pro-government gunmen. The US backs Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Saniora in a political and constitutional struggle with Hezbollah militants.
