Paroubek and CSSD deputy group chairman Michal Hasek told journalists that law enforcing bodies should also look into whether government tops did not participate in the alleged influencing of Cunek's case. Czech Court head sues subordinate over involvement in Cunek case ... asked to protract the proceedings. Andelova gave testimony on Monday in a suit in which some high-ranking judiciary representatives complained against shadow justice minister Marie Benesova (for the CSSD). Benesova described the people in connection with the Cunek case as "a backstage judiciary mafia" that tries to influence criminal cases. It is not yet clear whether the CSSD will propose the establishment of the commission of investigation at the June session of the Chamber of Deputies. It will depend on when a verdict is given in the above suit. Cunek resigned as deputy PM and local development minister last November when the case of his suspected bribery was reopened.
The case was definitively halted a fortnight later and Cunek returned to the government in April.
