The European Union has welcomed the outcome Sunday's parliamentary elections in Serbia.
Slovenia, which currently chairs the EU presidency, hailed the victory of President Boris Tadic's pro-European alliance after Belgrade's electoral commission confirmed the poll's results. Tadic's Democratic Party-bloc won nearly 39 percent of the vote, while the ultra-nationalist Radical Party won 29 percent. Tadic said the result confirmed a clear European path. Negotiations are now underway to establish a coalition capable of forming government.
