Chinese officials say at least five people have been killed in a strong earthquake that hit Sichuan province on Monday.
It is feared the death toll could rise amid emerging reports that many houses collapsed near the epicentre of the earthquake which measured 7.8 on the Richter scale. Military troops have reportedly been ordered to help with the disaster relief work. The quake was felt well over 3,000 km away in Thailand's capital Bangkok, where office buildings swayed for several minutes.
