A strong earthquake, measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale, has hit the eastern Chinese province of Sichuan.
Tremors were felt in the capital Beijing and Shanghai with reports of office buildings swaying as far away as Taiwan and Bangkok. There were no immediate reports of any casualties.
