Japanese Emperor Akihito has welcomed Chinese President Hu Jintao in a state ceremony.
It is the first visit of a Chinese leader to Japan in 10 years. Hu's five-day trip is to boost ties between the Asian powers despite rifts over energy resources and security. The Chinese leader and Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda hope to unveil a joint blueprint for their future bilateral relations.
