The Chinese government has once again stepped up its anti-Dalai Lama rhetoric, as envoys of Tibet's exiled spiritual leader head to southern China for talks.
A spokesman for the Dalai Lama said two envoys will meet Chinese officials on Sunday in the southern city of Shenzhen. Last month Beijing offered to renew dialogue over Tibet. The move was widely seen as a response to global pressure over China's crackdown on unrest in the Himalayan region. On Saturday Beijing stepped up its war of words, lambasting the Dalai Lama as a criminal who masterminded the most serious unrest in Tibet for nearly two decades.
