A militant Islamist group in Somalia says an air strike has killed the head of al-Qaeda in the country.
A spokesperson for the al-Shabaab militia said the overnight strike killed Aden Hashi Ayro, as well as seven others, at the man's home in the central Somali town of Dusamareeb, around 500 kilometres north of the capital Mogadishu. There are claims that the air strike was carried out by the US, which regards the al-Shabaab militia as a terrorist organisation.
