Germany's armed forces the Bundeswehr says its troops in northern Afghanistan uncovered two weapons depots of the radical Islamist Taliban militia near Kundus early this week and detained numerous insurgents.
Two of them had allegedly been involved in attempts to attack German troops. A defence ministry spokesman in Berlin said the pair had been handed over to Afghan authorities to face trial. The munitions find had filled two trucks and included mortar grenades and artillery shells.
