China has announced that a ship carrying weapons bound for Zimbabwe would return to China.
A foreign ministry spokeswoman in Beijing said the Chinese shipping company had decided to recall the ship and the goods on board. Beijing had been under pressure to stop the arms delivery after South African port workers, who feared the weapons could be used against Zimbabwe's opposition, refused to unload it.
