Bush. Abbas is also due to meet with visiting King Abdullah II of Jordan, followed by talks with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Bush will receive Abbas on Thursday after the Palestinian leader has met with US lawmakers. Abbas also confirmed he would again meet Bush at the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh on May 17. Meanwhile, the radical Islamist organisation Hamas has said it will make a decision by Thursday as to whether it wants to negotiate a ceasefire with Israel. This is considered vital to progress in the Middle East peace process.
