Ban has called on Zimbabwe's electoral commission to release the results of the March 29 presidential election without further delay. A spokesman for the secretary-general said he also planned to consult with the AU on ways of breaking the impasse. The opposition Movement for Democratic Change says it has figures that show that Tsvangirai won the election outright. The ruling ZANU-PF party says neither Tsvangirai nor President Robert Mugabe got more than 50 percent of the vote, meaning that a run-off will be required.
