European Union ministers have agreed to tighten anti-terrorism laws throughout the 27 member bloc.
During their meeting in Luxembourg, justice and interior ministers agreed to punish incitement to terrorism commited via the internet. Under the agreement public provocation to commit terrorist attacks, as well as recruiting and training people for terrorism will be punishable with prison sentences throughout the EU. The new measures would also allow EU law-enforcement agencies to demand cooperation from internet providers in order to identify suspects and ensure that the offending material is taken off-line. In a separate move, the ministers also agreed on an action plan to prevent terrorist groups from getting explosives.
