She met Tereza only at the court. Vichnarova's defence lawyer Filip Santini said Cowie had to hand his and his daughter's passports to the court so that they may not leave Australia. Both have to turn up at the next court session. Cowie, a 38-year-old New Zealander living in Australia, took Tereza to Australia without the mother's consent on late March. The Czech police have launched prosecution against him on suspicion of harming other people's rights. He faces up to two years in prison or a fine, if found guilty.
